Chalice is committed to positively impacting the local communities in the areas we operate, to achieve meaningful social and economic benefits .The Chalice Community Investment framework outlines our focus areas of Education, Environment and Community Connection, ensuring programs that receive funding have a lasting positive impact in the areas we seek to support.
Recognising the importance of education for youth in the Wheatbelt communities surrounding the Gonneville Project, Chalice partnered with Australian Earth Science Education (AusEarthEd) to deliver the Wheatbelt Engagement Program.
The program has been specifically designed to enrich earth science education in the region, for children from kindergarten to year 10. The program provides hands on incursions delivered by AusEarthEd staff as well as resource packs for schools to continue the curriculum, and professional development for educators. Chalice geologists have also had the opportunity to get involved, speaking to students about the Gonneville discovery, what critical minerals can be used for, the geology of the region and how we explore for minerals in the Wheatbelt.
Toodyay District High School Principal Sharon Anderson said “it is hard to get access to the same resources and activities as schools in the metro region. To have educators come out to our students and provide the ongoing support is a great addition to our school curriculum.”
