If the Gonneville Project progresses to a mine, it will be a significant new industry in the Wheatbelt region of WA. This is an exciting opportunity for local employment and economic development. The Project is still in the Pre-feasibility stage, during this time economic and engineering studies, as well as baseline environmental studies are undertaken. Until the studies are completed, Chalice does not know the scale of the project or the final mining and processing methods.
Modelling completed as part of the initial Scoping Study finalised in August 2023 showed that the Project could have substantial local, regional and national economic impact,
including approximately;
1,200 jobs during construction.
500 ongoing operational jobs over the life of the Project. Chalice will prioritise local employment and procurement.
$18 billion added to the Western Australian Economy (Gross State Product)over the life of the mine.
While further studies may see an initial Project progress with different scale and workforce requirements, it is clear that if Gonneville progresses it will provide significant regional employment and economic opportunities. Chalice is committed to continuous engagement with the local community as we progress a potential project to ensure it delivers local and regional benefits.
